Sundae Girl

Hi, it's Mia again to review a book called Sundae Girl.

Sundae Girl was written by Cathy Cassidy and published by Puffin. It is about a 13 year old girl called Jude and her weird and wacky family. Her mum is addicted to alcohol and her dad is an Elvis impersonator. Her gran has a deathly disease and her grandad looks like Santa! Jude's best friend is called Naula and other characters you will soon find out about are Kevin Carter and Kristina Kowalski from school. This book is an emotional rollercoaster and just like all of Cathy Cassidy's books, has amazing descriptions of Jude's feelings (I almost cried!). Here is the blurb:

Jude's Family are crazy, quirky, bizarre...her mum brings her plenty of problems and her dad thinks he's Elvis! All she wants is a hassle-free life - but it's not easy when you're chasing a trail of broken promises.
Nothing seems to go Jude's way until she realises a floppy-haired boy from school could be her knight on shining rollerblades. And sometimes, when everything turns sour, only something sweet can make it OK...

please please please read this! (not really for boy by the way)

Party Shoes

Hi, I'm Mia and here is my review on a book that I recently read called Party Shoes:

Party Shoes was written by Noel Streatfield who wrote lots of books, including a famous book called Ballet Shoes. He is very good at describing characters and their feelings and builds atmosphere in a book.
Party Shoes is set when World War 2 is coming to a close. Selina Cole, who has come from Hong Kong, is living with her Aunt , Uncle and 6 cousins in England. Selina recieves a parcel from her godmother in america...a blue organdie party frock and matching shoes! But when will she have the oppertunity to wear them? What will they lead to? Will Selina see her family again after the war?
Party Shoes was originally illustrated by Anna Zinkeisen and published by Collins. It has now become part of the Collins Library.
I was glued to this book, it is a journey, a long wait for THE DAY...."what day?" you might ask, well you'll have to read it to find out!

Thanks for reading my review!
